Work hard
In Susi Air, we get 4/6 weeks on and 2 weeks off.(*4 weeks for captains and 6 weeks for first officers)
When we are on duty, we fly 6 days a week. This is when there’s only limited pilots for the scheduled flights. If there is an extra crew, we take turns to fly. Generally speaking we fly 100 hours for 30 days. Flying our butts off!
We don’t fly at night. We normally start early in the morning 6:30am and finish before lunch or after lunch. Then, you have a whole afternoon to yourself.
We are not living in the cities where we can catch up with friends and families to go for a cup of coffee or to go out for nice meals. This is a jungle life!
Play hard
Therefore, our pilots need to be entertain themselves and it’s even better when you are based with a fun crew! If you change your mindset from spending lots of money to do something in the cities, to have freedom exploring nature, that is the fun I am talking about.
I was a very much city girl who grew up in South Korea and Australia where everything is civilised and organised, before I came to this third world life. This jungle life has certainly changed me and.....I love it!
This is the list of things we do....!
Surfing, Snorkelling, Diving, Kayaking, Camping, Fishing, Bike riding, Hiking to waterfalls, Swimming in the blue holes, Camp fire at the beach, Finding shooting stars, Chasing the sunset, Finding some random Papuan kids to play with, Exploring small villages, Meeting new people!
